Julie Ann Emery is a football fan, sci-fi geek, lover of fresh produce, and a softball enthusiast. She's also aTV, Film, and Theater actress best known for her portrayal of Betsy Kettleman on AMC's critically acclaimed BREAKING BAD spin off BETTER CALL SAUL ("As played by Julie Ann Emery, with a fabulous air of unearned outrage, Betsy feels as dangerous as any thug: there’s weird comedy in her intractable insistence—even to the lawyer who saw her bag of cash—that she’s innocent." - The New Yorker); as well as notably Ida Thurman in FX's Emmy winning series FARGO; and Casey in the feature film HITCH ("...a sweet turn by Julie Ann Emery as Eva Mendes' best friend"-USA Today).
She made her big screen debut in the hit romantic comedy along side Will Smith and Kevin James.
Early in her career, Ms Emery also starred on the small screen as Amelia Keyes in Stephen Spielberg's Sci Fi miniseries TAKEN (Emmy Nomination-Best Mini-Series), as Special Agent Jennifer Sampson in Rod Lurie's critically acclaimed series LINE OF FIRE ("an agent so fiery and confident.....she's reminiscent of Jodie Foster in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS"-NY Daily News), and Secret Service Agent Joan Greer on Lurie's COMMANDER IN CHIEF along side Golden Globe winner Geena Davis and Emmy winner Donald Sutherland.
More recently, Julie Ann has starred on the big screen in the hit indie comedy HISTORY OF FUTURE FOLK (NY Times Critics Pick), and Rod Lurie's NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH. Recent television appearances include recurring roles on Showtime's MASTERS OF SEX (opposite Allison Janney and Tate Donovan), MAJOR CRIMES, USA’s SUITS, and DirecTV’s DAMAGES. And guest appearances on Showtime’s DEXTER, CODE BLACK, NCIS: NOLA, NCIS, THE FOLLOWING, and THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES.
After growing up in rural Tennessee (where she named her first horse Kelly- after her best friend in kindergarten), Julie Ann attended theater school at Webster Conservatory in St. Louis where she was awarded the Marsha Mason scholarship, and met her future husband, Broadway actor Kevin Earley. Kevin didn't mind her TN Big Orange fandom, or her love of Star Trek, so the pair have been together ever since. Immediately following college, she began working on theater stages across the country garnering critical praise and a Chicago Jeff Award Nomination for her portrayal of Burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee in Marriott Lincolnshire Theater's production of GYPSY.
Two national tours later, Ms. Emery moved to the West Coast. This lead to her love of fresh fruit, and a production of Rebecca Gilman's BOY GETS GIRL at The Geffen Playhouse, as well as a string of TV appearances including THE RICHES, OCTOBER ROAD, ER, ROYAL PAINS, ALIAS, CSI MIAMI, ARMY WIVES; TV movies: PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS (with Sissy Spacek), CAPITAL CITY, and CBS' SNOW WONDER.
In recent years, Ms. Emery has turned her attention toward writing and directing. Julie Ann’s 21 episode web series THEN WE GOT HELP! (http://www.thenwegothelp.com/) has garnered awards & nominations from the Indie Soap Awards, CA TV Guide Awards, Man of the Hour Magazine, Clicker.com, Indie Intertube, and the IAWTV Awards, as well as attention from Variety, Hollywood Life Magazine, USA Today on line, AfterElton, DailyMotion and GregInHollywood. She is currently at work on filmmaking projects for both television and the independent film.
